You wouldn't need a HUGE lead battery but you would need 12v which would require 8 AA batteries.
...and a flasher
...and a switch

I was thinking of a simple sealed battery that will fit in a storage can, I use a similar battery a lot in the alarm system at work. It will fit easily in a military ammo can with room for storage, one could also keep a trickle charger on it leaving it in the can. Open the lid and plug up the charger, this way every time you ride your battery is fully charged.

thanks for the response. i actually came up with a different idea to charge/power it and it won't have a 12 pound battery.

You don't need a 12 lb battery for led turn signals, a 1.2Ah sealed battery only weighs a pound or two.
