Hay Velo

Where do I start, I stripped the bike for Paint and just as I finished stripping it work went nuts , been working 5-12s and a few 15 hour days just for fun.
Now that thing have calmed down I am back to the painting.
I have been lurking around the Board Track forum a lot so the next build
will a little more vintage. Speaking of vintage how are the projects going?
We will need to get together again , I still have a few thing on my plate
but give me a call if you need a hand.
OOOO how is the other project going ? Wink!! Wink!!

How you doing Truckd

Well I'm so good with computers , How do you PM ???

But I just finished priming the tank , I hope I don't drop it again
after painting the clear, the frame ,fork and engine covers are
done so that leaves the tank, intake and chain guard.
I should have it painted by next weekend then I can start
putting it back together.

Sorry camera is down.

Hi Atomic

I am using 1/2" Aluminum plate ( not bar stock ) I am working on the trans mount now, I should have pictures buy this weekend.

Bill
Bill-
Is the gap between the backside of your clutch bell and the trans plate tight? Like .060" or so? I'm thinking of re-doing my driveline using a trans plate, but am worried about the small gap. Did you have to shim your clutch any?

thanks, Ed

I have Allen heads bolts counter sunk into the trans plate, but they
stick out about .200 with a lock washer . so I put a shim on the
crank to hold the clutch about .150 away from the Allen head bolts.
I ran it closer on my old bike but as the clutch broke in it had a
little more side play and would hit the bolts .
If I can figure out how to up load I will post some pictures, My photobucket
has changed and I can't download pictures for some reason.
Hope this helps.

Nice Job Bill ! Looks a lot different then when I saw it in Arizona
It is not as rough now. My kids think it like an old hotrod.
The bike is done and I can't load pictures
in to the computer this bites! Photobucket has changed I can't
upload my pictures , and I tried to load a picture into the form
and Photobucket has no option to let me do that any more.
If any one has any ideas let me know.

Thanks for the help guys.

Ok now , Next is to get the pictures on to the lap top.

Todays progress, Clean all aluminum parts , grain the parts with
a red scotch bright pad and did the same with the head set and seat
post ( Crome parts ) .
The bike is all together and ready to start!! Not 1 scratch on the reassembly
and yes it took awhile.

This is a base clear coat , Red and Cream color. The tank has cream
panels on the sides ( picture later ) .

A trick my bubby told my to try on 2 tone painting was,
1. Paint the main color then 2 coats of clear.
2. Wait 24 house sand with 600 and be careful not to go through
the main color, tape edge of two tone with fine line tape then
mask the rest off with tape and paper.
3. Paint base let dry then remove masking and clear coat the whole
part.
