I used some grade 70 3/8" chain I had lying around. I cut it into 20 link long sections then sleeved it in a leather sleeve to protect the paint of the bike. I also had the leather lying around (another small hobby of mine)
so far the total cost is $0 so tomorrow I will head out to the store and get myself a nice lock for it
I think this is much better than anything else at the pricepoint I'll end up at!

do you guys think this is even worth while or should i get a u lock?

I'd gravitate towards the purchase of a U-lock but that seems decent enough for now especially with a quality padlock. If you're town is a small town I'd say your lock setup is fine due to the fact everyone knows you and your motor bicycle, so anyone else riding your baby would be pretty obvious..

ill roll with this as a temporary fix
ill probably get two u locks sometime in the future
i live in a big town, but crime isnt a huge issue here. if i decide to venture into houston i will need a better lock
