Im looking for a decent front fork to replace the one on a pantera. Im going for

practical rather than looks. Im asuming a mountain bike type fork will perform

better than a springer but not look as cool. please correct me if im wrong. I

wont something thats compatable with a disk brake. Im just kinda ignorant when

it comes to bicycle components. I dont want to overspend and get something

thats the newest coolest flash, im pretty sure i couldnt afford it anyway. I

also dont want to get something that is of such poor quality that it performs

badly or is dangerious. anyadvice?

Re: shok fork for micargi pantera

The XCM fits well on a Pantera and has both V and Disc brake bosses.

I just used the V-brakes, you have to change your wheel to a disc brake wheel, and then of course buy a rotor and caliper to go disc.

They made for a nice ride for ~$85.

If you are confused as to why those Pantera 7S's don't have a 7-speed, it's because I changed out the back hubs for internal 3-speeds and jackshafted the engines to use those gears.

Best to get a higher end fork used on eBay. If you have a 1.125" steerer its wide open, but if you have a 1" look for a marzocchi fork, they pop up on eBay for BINs of about $150 and if nobody scoops it up they get bid up to over $200, this happened with one I was watching. The RST forks come in 1" but they are kind of low end and I wouldn't trust it.

It's a 1" threaded for the Pantera.

I would go higher end on a dirt bike, sure.
The Pantera is a beach cruiser for road use, a single spring RST gave those Pantera's a nice ride and enough travel and spring action for pot holes and speed bumps like the one in my test ride loop and how I judge.

They sure beat the stock or a springer fork for actually doing the job and a nice upgrade ;-}

Re: shok fork for micargi pantera

thank you gentlemen, that helped quite a bit. even answered a question I didnt ask, which was, how i could go about changing a seven speed to a single. Ill get the seven speed for the v brake bosses then switch the crank. was going to change wheel anyways.

thank you again
