hello,

i have a home built ebike with a brushed 36 volt, 600 watt crystalyte front hub mounted motor. i recently burned out my controller when i hooked up my 3 12volt batteries to it.

here's my question: regarding the wire coming out of the hub motor. i touched my ohmeter's lead to it and the other lead to the bike frame. it showed continuity proving that the wire going into the hub motor was grounded. it is a single wire with two terminals and both terminals are grounded to the bike frame.

is that normal or is there a short or ground somewhere in the hub motor and was that the cause of my controller burning out? i don't want to spend almost $100 for a new controller and have the new one burn out again as soon as i connect it.

anyone know how that double wire leading into the hub motor should read when using an ohmmeter?

thanks in advance,
david
