R.I.P. Maurice Sendak. Where the Wild Things Are. & In The Night Kitchen. where some of my favorite children books.

back in '98 i was @ a rave & some guy had the wild thing plushies.
i danced & danced with them & cried & cried w/joy.

10 years ago (before the movie) i bought the wild things so when i have kids they can grow up as weird as I am.

I read those books to my kids nightly. I think I enjoyed them more than the kids. (It was a refreshing break from dinosaur books).
When Sendak was asked where he got his ideas for those monsters, he answered "My aunts and uncles". He was scared to death of his older kin, with their big noses and crooked teeth.
