if it is a low-pitched metallic clunk, then that is often there as the 2 gears knock back & forth

have you had a chance to lube them gears up? They do make some noise, but if its a new noise Id make sure they are lubed and nothing has come loose in there, or under the magneto cover, or the chain sprocket. These engines do make a lot of noise when working properly though.

If it has new kit from gasbike with 415 chain the chain is probably rubbing against the back left cover plate.

Just pop the cover over the drive sprocket and inspect the inside, if you see rubbing marks on it just grind out where the rubs are a little more.

If it's coming from the right side just pop that big round cover off and put a dab of grease on the bottom of where the big and little gears mesh.
