Greetings everyone. I'm having problems getting my second bike to start (using this engine: http://www.gasbike.net/product_51_detailed.html), but I think I'm making progress. Anyway, I've been reading the forums on how to troubleshoot getting the motor to start, and a thing to check is to see if the spark plug sparks.

I used my multimeter to check all the electrical stuff and everything is in order. My question though, is this.

I took out the spark plug, with the cap connected securely, placed it on the engine fin, engaged the clutch and walked the bike, and it didn't spark.

However, I did the same thing on my first bike, and still no spark. But my first bike starts and runs fine, so what gives?

How else can I verify the spark coil is not defective?

Despite your multimeter checks, there is obviously an electrical problem, in your other post I suggested checking the CDI only checks the coil ohmage and not the rest.

Your problem lies there or in your magneto, but first double check all your spark plug wires.

Hopefully someone can tell you how to diagnose a bad CDI.
