Should I really buy a boost bottle?

Am I gonna get any real performance out of a single or double bottle system?
I want quicker acceleration, not necessarily top speed. Is this something I can make at home by just drilling a hole in the air intake pipe and attaching a rubber fuel line or hose to a small bottle?

If you think you can do it, try. I would suggest that you buy a second intake for doing this on though.

Myself, I have ran a boost bottle - though I didn't do it through the intake. I actually ran mine via the tickler after removing said tickler.

For the bottle, I purchased a 60cc syringe and dialed it in to 48cc, which is the displacement of my piston. Yes, it ended up being a 5 dollar boost bottle, which is well worth the money to test things out. I wouldn't purchase one, as it doesn't do anything for top end, only idle and low acceleration.
