Sick Bike Parts has a wide crankset for sale on their website (this is the same set that comes with the shifter kit). It uses a wide spindle.
I recently installed a pullstarter too, and I found that the SBP spindle was not wide enough to accomodate it. Unfortunately the cranks that come in this crankset are aluminum, and thus not good for bending...
So I talked to the guy at my local bike shop, and he sold me a set of steel cranks that were the same length. I bent the left one outwards in a bench-vise, using a pipe slipped over the other end for leverage. Now it clears the pullstarter with no problem.
(You could probably just bend out a set of steel cranks like this even without the wide spindle from SBP...)
