High idle..

I installed a ned grubee 80. it starts but it wont decelerate and when the clutch is pulled in it goes to a high rpm setting.. any ideas.

Check the slide in the carb making sure it is closing down to the idle screw. You can do this with the engine off remove the air filter and watch the slide as you twist the throttle, if the slide closes and the idle screw does not change the engine rpm you may have an air leak. check the carb to intake making sure it is tight. If the slide does not go down to the idle screw check the throttle cable adjustment or a kinked cable. good luck

1. Idle screw. (clockwise increases, counterclockwise decreases).
2. Barrel slide. (can also indicate over tightening on carb mount causing a crack outside the barrel, leaving things out of round).
3. Air leaks. (spray carb cleaner at your fittings, seals and gaskets. If the idle races, you have some gaskets to replace, seals to replace, or fittings to tighten/seal).
