What is the majority of the engine's casting material? I know it can't be welded, and brazing would be a waste of my time seeing as I already bought a replacement part...However for future purposes (CNC stuff) I'd love to know.

Second question, aside from jugs/heads can you get other materials for these engines?

You guess is good as mine - the lowest grade aluminum and maybe some form of pot metal.

Good Luck,

You can get an aluminum 'solder'.
I have some here somewhere, Very tricky to use, however once you get the 'Knack' I've seen Coke cans soldered up, Aluminium mower decks repaired, ...
Part of the trick is to scratch it up, then apply a little Drawing chalk, The chalk will discolour just before the aluminium 'Drops'. You'd want to practice a bit first.
But I have a set of cases here that have been welded. And talking to my welder mate, he says to first use a MIG, which will leave a porous weld, followed by a TIG to work the bubles out.
