I am looking of info on the band brake wheel

a friend of a friend bought a strider bike (what a POS)
...yup the guys who could paint a bike, and make it go 50 mph laff

he paid 1500 and has less than 5 miles on it :()
it has been sitting in his garage for a couple of years
he just got my card and brought it over for me to get running

I am not familiar with the back wheel so I thought I would ask about it first

this bike only has the band brake, so I am already planning on a front brake addition

I thought about it and the answer is no.

I would not use a Grubee brake on a bike that goes 50 mph no matter what the paint job is !

Good brakes are always the way to go ! ! ! :) usflg

Looks like the same junk brake that came on my Schwinn trike.

Click on 4 stroke stuff then click on hd axle.

Notice the 3 brake system.

Bill, I've got the band brake on my Grubee chopper bike, and had to take it apart befor I ever used it to try to make it work. Very poorly constructed and doesn't stop well. I have a disc on the front and while the band brake is still on the back, it will go away when I complete the bike I'm working on now and have something else to ride. I wouldn't reccomend it. Dan
