okay so im going to be listing the things i used. others might use different things (like my lense, some ppl might be more creative).

1. flashlight! http://www.harborfreight.com/media/...b33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_20813.jpg

2. beans can http://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/285701160/Canned_Red_Kidney_Beans_in_brine_red.jpg

3 a water bottle. yes a water bottle.. lol http://content.costco.com/Images/Content/Product/330539b.jpg

4. packing peanuts. http://www.bgpride.org/images/Recycling-packing-peanuts.jpg

5. hot glue gun. http://toolmonger.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/09/post-gg100.jpg

6. any kind of bracket (make one from something in your garage or go to home depot)

okay now that you have what you need lets get to business.

step 1. prep the beans can. take all the paper off. drill a hole on the bottom of the can in the center of the can. (big enough for your thumb so you can turn the flashligh on and off easily). figure out how you're going to mount and drill the holes for the bracket.

step 2. place the flashlight center at the bottom of the beans can, and make sure your button matches up with the hole you drilled. while your hold it there in the center start packing the can with packing peanuts. this will make the light stay in place.

step 3. cut the bottom of the water bottle off, start shaping it to tightly fit into the beans can. be careful not to cut it to small. once u get it to the right size, try and see if u can fit some more packing peanuts in there to be sure its nice and tight. then put the piece from the water bottle in there and push it down in tight. get your hot glue gun ready.

step 4. once you hot glue gun is ready push the water bottle piece down firm and start apply the hot glue around the edges of the piece to wall of the beans can. now your finished!

thanks for reading my first diy thread! if you have any suggestions or comments i would love to here them so please give me feedback on what you think! ill post some pics of mine a few minutes.brnot

That's definitely a very creative and interesting way to make a headlight. I do see one drawback. Unless I'm missing something, changing the batteries in the flashlight once the headlight is put together would be extremely difficult, unless you connected it to an external power supply, such as the white wire?

your exactly right butterbean. but thats the reason why this formula is so simple. all u nees to do is take out the lens. this is the reason why your supose to use hot glue. all u do is get a heat gun or even a blow dryer and heat the hot glue until you can pull off the lens. just take out the flashlight and change the batteries
