I gone to this website. repairclinic.com and typed in fuel tanks, just to see what they may have. With some creative ideas of making a mounting bracket (I'm thinking something behind/under the seat). I think some of these tanks, might be good candidates for motorized bikes. I found about 9 of them that I think might work. Most of these are under 12" in length and range from about $30.-$90. in price.
Part numbers that I liked:
2426284, 1658981,1611028,1659100,1659012,1729103,1651365,1644160,1640390 and 1729102.
Happy hunting.

Do you think a rear mounted tank would cause fuel starvation issues up hill under power? Ive debated rear tanks but for this reason alone strayed away from it.dnut

But I do think as a solid back up or additional fuel source with a toggle valve would be a consideration. I want to find a dynamic style tank like a mini dirtbike. That would compliment my build.

Well as a fuel tank idea, I went with a crf50 fuel tank off ebay its 1 gallon and looks more like a dirtbike, 28.99 it will be here in a few days, ill let you know how it works.

With a frame mounted engine, rear mount tanks work quite well. The seatpost is usually high enough that fuels starvation will not be an issue on any hill you would ever be on with a motorbike. I say go for it.

These are gravity flow systems. As long as the fuel tank outlet stays above the carburetor inlet, fuel will flow. It is a liquid. It flows downhill. The main concern is fuel tank venting. It must vent to atmospheric pressure.

The engine will also run longer than you might suspect with only the fuel in the carb's bowl.

Good luck with the project!
