Faster is safer. What are my options for a bit more speed?

Yup, good luck.

There is no way I'd want to be on narrow twisty turny hilly dangerous roads with no shoulder and agressive cagers on a bicycle with a motor lashed to it.

Silverbear told you the right stuff, get a motorcycle.

I would prefer a motorcycle but being there only 3 weeks out of the year, finding cheap storage is key. High motorcycle rental fees are also out of the question. My aunt, who invites us down had said she had a friend who would store a motorcycle but recently when I brought that up she changed her tune.

For now a China Girl will do. And I'm apt to thinking stock for now is the safest bet. If I were to add the jackshift or shift kit I'm thinking I'll likely run into mechanical build snags when time is short. When I get back home I'll likely build one with a shift kit for next year's trip.
