riding the engine at close to top speed will not hurt the engine and may improve your mileage. To determine how many ounces to add for a certain ratio, divide the number of ounces in a gallon by the larger number in the ratio. for example, there are 128 ounces to a gallon. the larger number in 40:1, obviously, is 40. 128 divide by 40 = 3.2. Therefore, 3.2 ounces of oil added to a gallon is a mix ratio of 40:1. for a half gallon, divide 128 by the larger number in the ratio and then divide the result by 2. 3.2 divide by 2 is 1.6. So adding 1.6 ounces of oil to a half gallon is also 40:1. However I should also point out that 2.5 liters is roughly two thirds of a gallon, not half a gallon. So if you have a 2.5 liter tank, adding about 2 ounces of oil to a tank is close to 40:1. 32:1 is 4 ounces to a gallon, so for a 2.5 liter tank, thats just a little less than 3 ounces of oil. it would be easier to buy a one gallon fuel container and add the proper amount of oil to a gallon of gas and fill your tank with that.

I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Riding my MB this month of May 2014, I get appox 80 kms to a tank of gas which is 2.5 litres or 2/3 of a gallon of gas. This is equivalent to 50 miles per tank of gas or 99.42 miles to the gallon. Pretty good if you ask me !! brnot
