Is it possible to remotely mount the petcock away from the tank? Like attach a fuel line to the bottom of the tank with a hose clamp, then run the fuel line to a remotely located petcock? I have an interference issue between my desired tank and frame and am wondering if mounting the petcock remotely is OK.

close to the tank removes the chance of a leaking line draining it by accident.

also, having it on the tank means not having to drain tank just to do any work with fuel line

also, having it on the tank means that (2 stroke) oil wont settle at the lowest part of the fuel system.

I had the petcock after the fuel filter. which meant that after about a month of not riding the bike, oil started to separate and collect in the fuel filter. this creates an uneven fuel mix in the fuel filter and this makes starting the engine very hard as there is too much oil in the fuel mix.
