hi I'm new to building motorized bicycles and this is my second build and my power house will be a 6.5 honda clone and my question is if my gear ratio is too high, as of now i received my clutch witch is 10 tooth and my rear sprocket is on its way and its going to be 60 tooth at a ratio of 6:1 and theoreticly i can hit 47mph (75kmh) with 26'' tires at 3600 rpm to me i think its kind of high because the clutch locks at 28mph (45kmh) any help would be appriciated and also I'm on a really tight budget.

Most of us have to use a jackshaft to economicaly get good gearing with these engines.

I would think you need about around 9 or10:1 for a compromise in lower lock up speed and decent top speed.

Most of us disconnect the govenor. These engines are happy reving to 5000, so with the above gearing you'll get about 40 mph.

Be warned though these 6.5 size engines are known to vibrate a LOT at mid to higher rpms
