Talk about Virtual reality - this program is it! a Sumulated Universe!

gotta have a high-end setup (Desktop with an I-5/I-7 CPU and at least a "Kepler" series InVdia(sp) card 600x series.......or later, the current generation "Maxwell" card.......or equivalent AMD versions (whatever that would be).

some "space engine videos" from the Master - "lifelive42".......he and a couple of others "cronoversetar(sp)", JTmedina?..............really know how to show off this incredible program to its full beauty.

NEARLY all planets are imaginary - but within realism via physical laws of size and orbits, ....the remaining planets are real ones and made as close as is known of them via our Kepler data.

same is so WRT to the Galaxies and of course the stars - those that are known are shown where they belong, others are just imaginary (as would be the case of the nearly ALL of the stars in other galaxies).................and yes you can travel to those stars and galaxies and their related planets, and land on them if they have a solid surface.

LOL, Not with my antique computer.
It took almost 30 seconds to load the home page then when I looked at the system requirements, I laughed.
I'm lucky to be able to read new posts on this forum and even then I get 'error' messages all day.

Thanks, Gaffo. I hope others with newer machines can benefit from your link. It sounds interesting. I wish I could sample it. But, alas, I'm a dinosaur as is my computer.

My system can run it on a 60 inch flat screen. I think? Shoot man I run Linux most of the time. Could load my other hard drive back in and go back to a quadruple boot. I just don't like spy on us windows OS's any more..

My ho made jalopy comp is still running purring away. Its fun building stuff. Especially if it works. lol

Looks interesting enough might try it to see what it's about?

lol. believe me I can - CAN- relate Sir!!!!!!

From around 2002 - 2012, I was using a low end Pentium4........in 2002 that was no big deal............but by 2012 (and it was one with on board motherboard graphics "card"/"support" (generous use of those words)) pure torchure. but I was WAITING....for about 3 yrs or so - for Nvidia (Kepler - 680 card to come out), and an affordable SSD (solid state drive)................the former did not exist in 2009 and the latter was like 3 grand or something.

..so suffered with p4 for those 2009-2012 (3 yrs) ----until Newegg had a 12 hour sale of an SSD for 1/3 price - shelled out 340 bucks for a 512 meg SSD on the spot in summer 2012 (OCZ Agility - with a 1/2 return/fail rate - lol)...well it served me for 3 yrs - up to 5 months ago (when it FAILED and I lost some stuff - smart enough to backup 2/3 of it before so not end of world - lost some nice porn though - lol and my FABDVD program (which is now blocked by the US for violation of DMCA -------- so my "lifetime membership" of ubgrades (120 bucks for my DVD and Blu-Ray copying program) to that program (in China of course) is blocked thanks to Disney/Sony/etc.......corporate media intere$t$...........

now I'm rambling and on one my hobby horses (media consolidation) and my futile private war against (pirate radio --which I did partake, and maybe will again - probably - being an unrealistic idealist. lol.................;-/.

intended to just say "been there"....but ended up rambling..............

oh well.

FYI -----unlike the 90's - where I had a 486-33DX, then an AMD 486-100DX, then a Pentium-133 .........all between 1993 and 1996 - and with a 8X speed increase in 3 yrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

those days are LONG OVER. Morse Law will soon follow.

Shell out "big bucks" now (i.e. I did 3 yrs ago and today the "top end" is on average 25-percent faster..................if this were the 90's it would be 800-percent faster!), and you will never have to worry about upgrading for speed.

I don't. I shall upgrade - due to failure of some part of PC.....................never for speed.

the days of speed are gone forever......................for silicon at least. BRICK WALL 0 big time.

Optical computers? - maybe(probably ----in 80 yrs! ---lol).

.....................
you no need to shell out if you use of the PC does not require more power than you have. only meant to say that the "speed days" are OVER.................and that you should never from now on fear that you "box" built today will be obsolete.

It won't (unlike the 90's - where within 1/4 of a yr it was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - lol).

Linux - don't even get me started.

the far superior Operating System (like OS/2................."os what what - never heard of it" these last 20 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

with **** poor device driver support - so the superior OS looks like dog**** compared to windows - the better OS..............now going on TWO Decades...............is no closer to being USABLE BY ME (less so in fact - with all the bleeting sheep Distros trying to make my DESKTOP in to a fooking IPHONE Experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) -ONLY SuSe and LinuxMint GET IT......................

but that DOES NOT HELP HELP WHEN NVIDIA - REMOVES OVERSCAN SUPPORT FOR THEIR VIDEO DRIVERS -----which I NEED - using a TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and which Windows Nvidia driver HAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and which NVIDIA - HAD - 2 yrs ago...............under Linux - and them REMOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(WYF did they remove it??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

installing SuSE and having 1/2 of my icons OFF THE FOOKING SCREEN of my TV because Nvidia removied overscan support in the BETTER Operating System (why? - someone give them some MONEY MAYBE to kneecap their own video driver????????????? = probably)).

I no longer have the time nor lifespan for all that bull****.

if Linux can't get decent driver support - screw it.

------and I was I big supported of it BEFORE KDE - way back in 1995. used the command line/etc........................

but ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it does NOT TAKE 20 fookin YEARS to write a decent Device driver for a fookin video card!!!!!!!!!!!!

I run NVIDIA perfectly On Mint. Just gotta install their driver specifically from NIVIDA. Sometimes the fidelity is so good... I think I can count the hairs on folks heads.;)

OKC, OK
Hmmm. I understood "antique computer" and "dinosaur", maybe a few other tidbits.

I think I feel now as older folks did back in the '70's when I mentioned "punch cards".
