Hey guys I'm still new here but decided to start a real build thread. I started my boardtrack racer project well over a year ago but a lot of other projects have got in the way. The last two weeks I've been at it hard on this one. I'm starting with a 1983 huffy Santa Fe 10 speed frame I picked up for free. I have the frame done and now on to the engine mount. I plan on using a 99cc from Hf. For now while I scape up the extra dough for an engine,I'm gonna rob the 99 cc off my k&s minibike for mockup.( it rarely sees any action). Hopefully it won't be a slow build, I'm excited to get this done! Let me know what u think.

Some great fab work. Not that much left of the original frame! I'll enjoy this thread.

Thanks for the compliments ! Well I pulled the 99 off the mini :(. When I first built it I never remove the governor gear so I did the today. Really was quite simple. I followed a tech article on agk website. Maybe tommorow ill fire it back up and get some plate and mount in the frame.

NIce looking start, you did a number on the frame that's for sure. Looks like you have some nice cars to go along with that bike. It sure will look good in the back of that cameo...

Keep up the good work.... Check out my dyno build... Shows how to mount that motor real easy.... Pm me if you have any question...

I scavenged a crank and sprocket from a little stingray . It has a 40 tooth sprocket and shorter crank arms for better ground clearance. I have a ton of old and new bikes to steal parts from. People usually give them to me or if i see them on the side of the road on trash pickup day ill snag them:). I really liked the no spoke design on this one.

I got my tank in primer and mounted. I ended up browsing the fitting isle at my local Home Depot and found a cool gas cap. I used a garden hose brass cap and threaded an adapter in the tank, I worked out pretty well. I'm alittle worried about the crank sprocket size , it's a 40 t, should I get a small size sprocket for easier pedaling ( if I need to)? Crank arms are 5 in long.

I figured I'd wait till I get my jack shaft kit before I mount the engine. Just to be sure I get it in the right spot. Or does it really matter? Can I mount it anyplace in the frame and go from there?

Yea I may run a copper tube vent at the other end of the tank with a couple of loops in it. Guess I need to get the jack shaft kit ordered so I can mount my engine.

Thanks guys! Had some time to spare this morn so I started to polish all my tank fittings. Started with 180 grit, then 320,400,800,1500, and finished with 3000. Then hand rubbed with brasso polish .

Since I work in a body shop my color choices are endless , and materials are free:):). I've been tossing around either gloss black or a gunmetal/titanium metallic paint for this thing.

txcycle,
That sure took the fittings from the ordinary to the outa sight level. Perfect match for a great looking bike.
I think that you and Curtis are right and something other than black would look great. Maybe with some pin stripes? :)

Steve.
