Hi y'all. I just built a 71' Schwinn Racer.
Coming to this forum helped immensely, and I wanted to give everybody a thanks.

Lots of Fun.
To actually put it together only took eight hours, but I've spent hours tinkering.
I put on side pull brakes with a "handicap" brake lever. Basically it's a lever that pulls both front and rear brakes. Also have a coaster brake for reserve, but I just got a sturmey-archer 3 speed w/o coaster brake. Does anybody have any experience with the sturmey-archer AW 3speed, I'm wondering how well it will hold up with the motor???

Dang can't post pics yet.

Ksw,
Welcome to the forum. You asked about the S.A hub holding up to the motor. Are you using a shift kit? If not the bike's rear hub is uneffected by the engine. The power is applied to the spokes and rim and there really is no appreciable stress put on the hub other than the bearings due to the speed. If you are running a Sick Bike Parts shift kit then you should listen to their advice concerning upgrades to hubs. Hope this answers your question.

Thanks Tom
I looked into that Sick bike shift kit... that kit is off the hook cool. Very nice.

I guess I'll have to see how the bearings hold up on my hub.
