To build a motorized Road bike? o:

I'm looking for something that will take me from work and back xD!

So, a Cruiser more or less haha.

So, I would start

1. Looking for a bike that would fit the engine I would want, (I'm not looking towards building an engine, just buying one from Grubee I guess.)

2. Look at Engines? O:

OR should I choose an Engine first, then choose the bike? oO

ENGINE FIRST, then trace it onto cardboard and write all the needed clearances and preferences on it, then start a 3month search to find a bike that doesn't end up having the correct clearances, after you built it, disassemble, search for another bike that is missing a part that the guy at the bike shop finds in a scrap heap, then finish the project and the engine will give you endless problems and you've only run it for .1miles and Here I am over a year later, and I know every part on the engine, but I still can't ride it!!, woops I sorta started ranting there, but really ENGINE FIRST

I started with the bike first. Well the bike was sitting in my shed collecting dust... But seriously I think some one else said it earlier this week on a different post, "Find a bike you like to ride, because putting an engine on it does not make it more comfortable"

My suggestion would be a MTB as RB wheels tend to bend at the slightess bump or knock?! As you can get a engine kit from anywhere these days...a brand name engine-kit won't hurt, but make sure you can get parts for it as some are not standard sizes, especially clutch-assemblies and their keys! Other words do your research on the internet or by asking people!?

If you can go for either high-tensile-alloy frame or chromolly frames??? They last longer!

The measurements for a frame should be top-bar-tube-50cm. Seat-post-tube-37cm (<important). Angled-bar-tube over front-wheel should give you the angle of 17cm when measured with the seat-tube, which will also give you the angle of your engine seated inplace. Measurements should be done from behind welds on your inside bike-tubes!

More importantly replace all your standard kit bolts with high-tensile bolts and nuts got from your local bolt and nut specialist and allen-key types are best in my view. Much more important is replace all your "engine-mount studs", by getting bolts with thread all the way to the head and then carefully cut-off these heads (use file to make smooth and to clear thread clearance!)
