I purchased a 1930's gravely model D engine; but do not want to start it until I come up to speed on its workings. Any info would be a big help.

Thank you for the informative link. I now a lot more about this engine. I purchased it because; it will look GREAT on a early 1900's build. That link stated that this engine breaths 1000 times a minute. Does that mean that this 4 cycle engine goes 2k RPM? It was also interesting that the crankcase lubricates by droping oil on the flywheel and not a crankcase resivor!
I am hoping to find someone who has had hands on experience with this model, so keep an ear to the ground!
