heres a few pics of the 1968 hawthorne i just picked up
all original and in pretty darn good shape , except the cracking on the original tires
i might go electric on this , if i can convince myself to put a motor on it .

i,m going to change out the front forks with a springer
put a 3 speed hub on the back and a sturmey brake hub on the front
after i took the pics i put on some nirve cannible grips and i,m going with the cannible seat too

up north now
That is my kind of bike. Stock is best, especially when it's all original. Watch adding a bunch of weight to it.

thanks guys , i,m goin for a bit different look though , ( rattification )

i did a little work and took her for a ride and snapped some pics
man does the springer ride smooth .

here's what iv,e done so far :

mocked up a plywood tank ( i,m keeping it small , not too worried about long range )
change out to a springer front ( i have a sturmey brake i need to put on a rim )
flipped the bars , nirve cannibal grips ( waiting on a cannibal seat )
i had an old tractor utility light , i fabbed a mounting bracket for it .
i,m converting the light to a battery operated LED , i will post a separate thread for that mod
OH ... look at the kickstand ... lol
i,m probably going to go with the smaller 49cc Grubee GGG round cylinder motor
and i,m trying to get my hands on a whizzer speedo

thanks , i know how you like the homemade stuff , so you will probably like what i do with the light . i,mpretty much tapped out now , might be a while before i can get the motor ( alternator went on my van ) i had enough of workin under van hoods , so i just got it done at the garage ( wasn,t cheep ) 49cc and tach are on the back burner now , stuff for the light i have on hand at home , so the LED mod is still a go .
