Hi everyone. Back a while ago, Msrfan mentioned using a clutch with a one way bearing, in order to be able to pedal the bike and start the 4 stroke engine. Any ideas? The Comet type clutches seem to freewheel either way so don't think that those are it. He hasn't posted since 2010 so assuming he isn't responding anymore..shft.

Tony01 had a thread on his bike that has I think it was 3 clutches that make up a two speed automatic tranny. I think it was there that some bearing or something in conjunction with the auto clutches made the thing work. The Bearing or something was the part that was special and would only engage when spun faster in one direction than the relative rotation.

Check it out, maybe if that is right then that might help. Otherwise some other way many have pedal start. I ended up just using the recoil starter on my Briggs.

Just found it. Called a One Way Bearing.

All my searching finds these only in metric sizes. I did see where a key way is available on both inner and outer bearing surface though.

I did not see 5/8 or 3/4 shaft sizes, the inner bearing surface diameter.
