Can someone tell what size metric bolt fits into the end of the crankshaft? I need to put a washer and bolt on it to keep the key from coming out of the keyway in case the allen bolt loosens which it has in the past. 25 mile round trip to town, so I'd like to go to Ace Hardware just once. Many thanks.

That's not metric. That is fine thread 5/16 or 3/8, can't remember which. All the PTO bolt holes are non metric also.

Ah, well that's a start. Good that it's SAE. I'll wait a bit to see if someone else weighs in with the diameter and length. Guess I can figure the length with something poked in there to see how deep it is. Then may rummage through my junk stuff to see if I happen to have a bolt of the right thread. Thanks, Wayne.

Amazing... I just found a bolt of the right thread and length sitting on my desk by the laptop. I have no idea what it was for. No need now for a trip to town. I don't know what size it is yet. Woohoo!

Ibedayank,
Just saw your post. Thank you, sir! Perfect day for a ride in the north woods. Nice breeze, blue sky and sunshine, about 80 degrees... perfect.
