Miles from home, your phone has NO Signal, What you have is a flat. Take the wheel off the bike, No tools. Prop it against a tree or post. Remove one side of the tire from the rim. Grab handfuls of grass, weeds, and stuff as much as you can in the tire. Push it onto the rim. Spit on the rim if you can, no one is there anyway. If you got enough in it, ride slow & it will get you home. I tried it at my shop, I was thinking, Yea Right. It works. (c)

Many mountain bikers have used that method to avoid walking back to the car. It works.

Pretty good idea. Not something you might think about either.

Luckily for me I'm usually never more than a mile or two away from a wally world, but still.

that's an old trick. i read a story about some guys in WW2 having a flat on their motorcycle, and some old local farmer showed them that.

never tried it myself, but living in the city, i'd have to fill up my tire with redbull cans and taco bell wrappers...
