Resistance plugs and wire are intended to reduce electrical interference with critical electronic components of today's cars. Originally resistance wire was introduced to eliminate the static 'buzz' you could get from solid conductor ignition wire in car radios. As the electronics became more sophisticated the need for a way to protect it from high voltage Rf interference became more essential, thus the introduction of resistance plugs and wire. Our little engines will run on resistance components but there is no need for it...unless you can't hear the music on your I-pod.
