I think the CVT ranges from 6:1 at engagement and 0.9:1 in high range.
My math shows that when the cvt reaches max overdrive of 0.9:1, and with your sprockets, and using the 28 tooth on the cluster wheel, you could achieve a total ratio of 3.08:1 and 125.6 mph at 5000 rpm.

The cvt engagement will just start to lock up and stop slipping at about 18.8 mph and about 2400 rpm. So there will be a lotta belt slipping goin on until that speed is reached, or anytime you drive at a lower speed than 18.8.

That's just my calculations, and they could be wrong.

I couldn't find any data on exactly what the tav2 ratio range was. but i found the 30 series ratios. they should be pretty close though.

assuming the engine maxing at 5000 rpm (seems like it's red line (no gov) should be about 6000)

it'll give me a final drive of 15.05 (low) to 5.05 (high)


potentially what i might look into is a solid hub adapter to run a 40t sprocket on the rear rather than the cassette.

a rear 40t will give me lockup at 7 mph, and a top speed of 44 mph.

are you using a gear ratio program?

The Torq-A-Verter system engages at 2200 rpm. As the engine throttle is "opened" the drive belt engages, driving the driven unit at it's largest diameter. This is the most powerful ratio of the system (2.7:1). At the highest speed (overdrive) and lowest load demand the driven unit pulley flanges are wide open providing the smallest possible belt contact diameter. The drive unit pulley flanges are closed to provide the largest possible belt contact diameter. This gives the system an overdrive ratio of .90:1.



low side of cvt 2.70-1 using your 40 tooth rear and a 10 tooth on cvt output 10.80-1 at 5000rpm 35.8mph
high side of cvt .90-1 overdrive gives 3.60-1 final ratio 107.4 mph

20-18 tooth gives you the .90-1 overdrive
20-54 tooth gives you the 2.7-1 under drive
not doubting your skills but i do doubt that the 99 has the power to pull such gears...

first two picture show the cvt's ratio after it goes to the 17t on the left side.

3rd and 4th show the final ratio's at low (lock up) and high.

5th is a diagram of how it is routed.

how do you get a 4.56 ratio when the cvt is only capable of a 2.7-1
