44 t sprocket hub/axel w drum brake
Just found this on ebay, saw it once before on a members pic:
I was wondering what it was, but now I know.
Is this a good alternative to disc brakes? How about reliability, servicing, parts?
Thanks.

You cant really compare the stopping power of disk brakes to the drum, disk will always be far superior.
But they have braking power and it is a lot better than having normal coaster brakes or nothing at all.

As far as reliability, mine has roughly 500 miles on them with no issues other than just some minor adjustments... they are getting kind of noisy though.
Sound like a small train when i come to hard stop.

As far as service parts, i found a website where they sell replacements for the band brake. Ill try to provide the link later when i find it.

Another thing is that i recommend getting some axle washers. You might need some in order to get the proper spacing.
