On one of my semi-monthly tromps through the local WalMart today, I went back to the bicycle section to see what they had (I rarely go in there without looking). The same as usual, mostly mountain bikes with a sprinkling of cruisers and 700c equippied bikes.

I stopped to give the Cranbrooks a long look and it appears the front hub has plenty of material for a disc brake adapter, i.e. lots of room between the spokes and axle. (I've got to stop going in there....I kick myself everytime for not buying one when they were marked down for Black Friday.)

While I wouldn't try to add a caliper bracket to the stock fork, a suspension fork with a caliper mount could work without buying and relacing a new hub. Since they already have 12 gauge spokes, this could be a time and money saver.

Has anyone tried this ?
