Sometimes if the plug has been removed a few times, the gasket will leak a tiny bit. The only cure is a new gasket.

When testing or tuning, I use a "pre-crushed" gasket until I get the engine where I want it, then put the plug in with the new gasket (washer) that came with it.

Joe,
That's a good idea. I buy plug gaskets by the package. Usually there is eight in a pack. I replace them often when breaking in a new engine and checking plugs. You're idea will save me some mool-a. :) Thanks, why didn't I think of that?
