My ship pulls into Dutch every year, so I've met some of the fishermen you see on the show, but we're here in the summer and they tape the show in the winter. Summer is a far more civil time to be in the Aleutians.

Joe, (now that we know), thank you for sharing and being a good ambassador for the hobby. That's one of the best news articles I've seen concerning motorized bicycles. Congratulations on your notoriety.

Dan is gonna love this :)

It doesn't hurt that the journalist, James Mason, used to own a bicycle shop. Interesting guy, we talked for an hour before the interview. He kept telling me what a great place Dutch Harbor is to live and raise a family, I kept waiting for the punch line, but he was dead serious. To get an idea of what Dutch Harbor is like, read the police blotter on the website. It's a tiny, treeless place, with vessels from all over the world pulling in there, everything is owned by Unisea corperation, and a lot of drinking and fighting.
