I believe Deacon had done something similar in one of his builds way back. A bigger slow turning roller is always better.

Reminds me of a "Bike Bug" engine I had back in 1986.
It was a little 2 stroke with a front wheel cog that powered a front bicycle wheel.
I drove the heck out of it, for 2 years straight...winter, spring, summer, and fall.
It was bullet proof, as long as the roads were dry.
Once wet, the cog would slip and lose friction with the bicycle tire.
