I've been unhappy with the way my 49cc HS 4G set up took off. Lots of bouncing and jerking going on in the clutch area. The clutch spring were pretty stiff so engagement was at higher RPMs and not a smooth proposition at all. As a result, I have some larger than normal key ways.

Through very carefully planned experimentation, in other words lots of random screwing around, I installed a fairly light set of springs in the clutch and changed the rear gear to a 44 tooth (down from the stock 48 tooth).

Now the clutch engages just off of idle and with very little pedaling involved, I get the engine hooked up to the rear wheel right away. With the torque the little HS has it will accelerate nicely up to 26 to 28 MPH while carrying my 290 lbs.

Much more satisfying to ride with the smooth take off.

Sounds like lots of random screwing around was just what the Doctor ordered! GIGITY! Congrats on a good self done fix!
