Re: MB are a cure.

You may have stumbled onto the cure! Man, I'm glad to hear you have won the battle. My wife is a radiation therapist, so I can understand some of what you have been through. Don't worry about the bike taking you out. Something is going to, eventually. Atleast, maybe, the bike would be faster and on your terms. Is there a better way to go than doing something you enjoy? Again, I'm glad to hear you are better and found this great hobby. Welcome to the forum.

Re: MB are a cure.

I was given weeks to live a year before i built my first one. I wasn't really living so they were right, but once I began to build I came back to life. So yeah it's a curse for some but a cure for me to....

Re: MB are a cure.

I wasnt supposed to make it thru surgery 14 months ago but here i am after a battle with pancreatic cancer and nearing remission point. All my Dr.s are astonished and if you ever need a cancer specialist i am living proof that he is the best. Back to the good side i cant wait till tomorrow to ride another day. And people on here are great to talk and listen to.

Re: MB are a cure.

Good for you. My heart man says to me two years past my expiration date, "Well it aint the meds keeping you alive at this point."

I said, "I* know I stopped taking them last year.

The the neurosurgeon said, "Go home and make your will. Your brain tumor is huge and you are having seizures, so it is a matter of weeks."

That was about six years ago. I don't take his meds either. The bike taught me how to balance again. The tumor had robbed me of my natural balance. The bike got me moving around and showed me that I could still do things. I had a reason to wake up in the mornings and even better a plan for the day.

So yeah the bike saved my butt in a lot of ways. And I have met some really good people here. Best of all the ideas float around, so I get to play with something new about everyday.

Re: MB are a cure.

Tomahawk , Deacon , its good to hear that your both doing well .

I truly believe that a bit of happiness and laughter is ten times as effective as the best pill out there .

And heck , a little pedaling can,t hurt any either .

I recently got my old lady into riding bicycles ( she just finished cancer treatments also )
She never really had any interest in riding bicycles before , but now she loves it , and seems too feel better afterwards too . She just bought a membership at a gym , and now she thinks it was a waste of money , when she can just ride the bike for free .
( maybe the gym will be ok for the winter )

Best thing to do if you fall down , is get up and try again ( cheers guys )
Keep the shinny side up , or at least covered with a baseball hat

Re: MB are a cure.

tell her to keep riding it is great for balance and not bad for making new friends. Everybody waves to me as I go bye since I speak to them all. I bought a pedal bike first just to retrain my brain to balance me so i could walk again. I had no idea what it would do for my outlook on life.
