Hi, my bike has been sitting for a little while and I tightened everything and tried to go for a ride and it wont start. The spark plug looks fine but how do I check it? I'm VERY new to electrical stuff. I noticed there is no spark when I take the plug out and ride it with the engine engaged. Is it supposed to do that?
I also noticed a bit of oil on the magneto connection.

HELP! I have places to be.:-||

Did you ground the plug to the engine and check for spark?

How about checking the wire to cap and wire to CDI connections?

Remove the plug, put the cap back on, and hold the plug on the engine, and pedal the bike turning the engine over.

Check the cap to wire by making sure the connection is tight. Also, make sure the cap doesn't have anything hanging out of it that looks like a spring. Make sure it fits snug onto the plug too.
The wire to CDI can be checked by turning the wire like you are screwing it into the CDI (it is screwed into the CDI).

Do the plug check first, if you don't have spark, then check the rest.
