Bit of history from web page: The A. O. Smith Company bought the manufacturing rights to the Wall Motor Wheel in 1914. The A. O. Smith Company then produced the Smith Motor Wheel for use on American made bicycles and a Cyclecar called the Smith Flyer. The Smith Motor Wheel was a single cylinder air cooled one horsepower engine that sold for $60.00. The Smith Flyer sold for $135.00 and was equipped with the Smith Motor Wheel.

The Smith Motor Wheel could easily be attached or fitted alongside the rear wheel of bicycles started then lowered to the ground to go forward. The same producure was done with the Smith Flyer. Over 60,000 Smith Motor Wheel were sold for use on bicycles and on the Flyer.
