Anyone deal with Manic Mechanic as of late or they out of Buisness now?

I hope its just me, or a stroke of bad luck.

I have been trying to get some Motor Mounts from MM and it seems like I run into dead end after dead end. Even was told by a supplier that they are no longer making parts. Thats where I left it lay until recently when I decided to try again since a couple months have passed.

I figured before I begin to attempt my own Motor Mounts, I would see if MM mounts were available from anywhere at all since its been a couple of months. Well needless to say, I am just about ready to give up and get together with a friend and his Mill. All parts of any kind anywhere of MM are out of stock with no restocking in sight.

So I did in fact call MM and out of 6 tries I got through to someone on the 6th try. This is over a period of many months mind you. I was told that Jim was busy in the shop and that they were running them as we speak and should be out to a supplier by the end of the week. May not have been Jim himself but was happy someone answered this time and talked to me :)

I was excited to say the least. So what do I do next? I call the supplier so I can be put on a waiting list, or anything that would insure me a pair when they got there. I was then told that since MM had the fire, they have not got anything in from them. They have been told many times that they were up and running and to expect shipments by the end of the week. The same thing that was told to me, so dont hold my breath basically.

I just was wondering if anyone else here has had any luck with MM lately. I read all the rave reviews on here and I dont doubt they make a quality product, a product I would rather have than attempting to make my own. However if they are out of business then its time to get busy with the Mill and wish for the best.

Sorry for the long winded post

It is sad that I have to say this, from what I have seen on the boards here, I would not spend my money with ManicMechanic. Because of the wait times I have seen people trying to deal with and other stories here.

That said he did have a little contest here in a thread long ago and several of use won his clutch kit. It arrived very fast and looked great.

Manic Mechanic is still in business and back to sending out the
only available custom sized sprocket adapters on the market.

You can get ANY size between 0.9" to 1.77" and they are shipped within a few business days.

On October 18th, 2011 a tree limb got tangled up in the high voltage power lines near our shop, (See You tube video here...VIDEO).

The power surge that resulted from this incident caused the controller on our primary CNC mill to catch on fire essentially destroying the machine, ($20,000+ in damage).

We are now back up and running production...We are back on schedule to produce custom orders with our usual 2-day turn-around time.

The issue of Jim (Manic Mechanic) has always been a big problem around here... There are many people who have received nice parts from him; but there have always been as many people who sent him money & waited way too many many months to get their parts (& there are still others have never got them at all)! :(

My advice would be to buy from any of the distributors who currently have his parts in stock & avoid taking the chance.

Goat,

Was trying to get mounts for my 58 schwinn vette. I talked with my friend and looks like today we are going to come up with a drawing of a set, or what would work best and go from there. According to him, once we have a design we want, the machine does the rest so it shouldnt be too complicated.

Wish me luck
