Hi All,

I have been lurking on the forums for some time and finally decided to bite the bullet and register.

Because of Maniac57's posts, I decided to go with a Rose326a 80cc kit from Ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/331163659232). I am going to be mounting it on a Diamondback Response XE 20" frame.

I just had some questions for the forum because this is my first attempt and I would really appreciate the help:

1. I am currently WAY under my budget (the kit was only $145) and would like an easier and more reliable build. What additional parts should I order right now? (Such as the SBP Hardware, new clutch cable, new SBP throttle? Should I replace the engine studs? If so, what threading are the studs? Etc.)

2. Will I be running into any mounting issues? If so, what additional mounting hardware would you recommend I buy? The bike is modern and here is a link to what it looks like: http://www.diamondback.com/2012-response.

3. What must I do upon first receiving the kit? I keep seeing many other members recommend a flush of these Chinese engines with a gas+oil mix...however, being a noob, I have no idea how to approach this. Is there a guide (I have not been able to find one)?

I know that it is a lot of questions, but I really would appreciate your help! Please feel free to include any additional advice and tips for the Rose kit/Build.

Thank you again in advance!

The build is pretty straight forward. The only speed bumps you will have is the mounting points. You will need a larger front motor mount because the down tube is pretty fat. You can get one from sick bike parts or make your own with flat stock and some exhaust clamps. Also, you will need to grind the inside of the rear motor mount to fit the seat tube. Other than that good choice. Chain line is good, frame is plenty strong enough. I have put mine through plenty of abuse and it's still going.

Here is a link to my old DB build.

Thank you for the help! I really appreciate your time and I apologize for dumping so many more questions onto this forum, I am just eager to learn vicariously!

This would be the motor mount I would have to purchase right? (http://www.sickbikeparts.com/catalog...5h43gipdfdq8o5). Am I correct in assuming that I only need one of these?
If I do not have a grinder, is there a mount I can buy for the seat tube as well?

Secondly, since I want to replace the hardware, do you have any recommendations? Is this product any good: http://www.sickbikeparts.com/catalog...products_id=43? Also, which kind of loctite should I use, if any?

Thirdly, what is the filter+carb combo I am seeing in your photo: (http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd371/F_Rod81/DSC00221.jpg)? Is that just the stock carb with a new air filter?

Fourthly, I currently have a rear disk brake on the back. I must take the disk brake off to install the stock ragjoint right? If so, where did you buy the caliper brakes for the Response?
Is there any good adapter for our rear disk brake mounting holes to a sprocket mounting?
Also, would I be able to pull off a dual disc brake and sprocket with something like this: (http://www.kingssalesandservice.com/top-hat-sprocket-adaptor/)?

Fifthly, how did you mount the chain without the tensioner? Would I be able to buy a tensioner that fits our bike? Were there any special modifications you performed to fit the gas tank to the top tube? How did that shift kit for the bike ever turn out? Did you ever buy it and install it?

Thank you again and I appreciate it if you could help me out despite me overloading you with questions.

Sincerely,

Okay first you want the wide engine mount, check eBay and compare prices search motorized bicycle engine mount or 80,66 cc mount and look for the wide one

You might want to order the disc brake adapter from jake's bike parts, I heard a couple people having trouble getting stuff from Kings, jake's is the same adapter.

You can buy a new sprocket from Jake and it fits the adapter or you can enlarge the hole on the stock sprocket to fit. It has to be larger to fit over the disc hub.

If your frame has a brake bridge with center hole, you can use a "c" brake, it only has one mounting point.

Getting the disc rotor, sprocket and chain all in that small space isn't easy. You would need small brake calipers like the avid bb7, a kmc 410 HD chain, one of jake's thin sprockets with flush chain ring bolts, and still need chain ring spacers to get the brake caliper to fit

A 60MM filter will fit the stock nt carb, if your tight on room you may need an offset z manifold.

The hardware from SBP is great and I would also recommend his throttle and ngkbh6 spark plugs for stock engines as well as his petcock.

Replace stock fuel line with 3/16 Id tygon hose and buy a quality inline fuel filter.

I suggest investing in a spare magneto-coil. $10 investment now can save you days and miles (and pedals) of frustration down that long road.
