I have a new old stock one of them ( not for sale ) yours looks like the oridgional bracket has been cut off and a washer welded on for some reason. You could make a new half moon piece and weld it back to the front half of the bracket,other wise it looks good........Curt

i later found out it wasnt the only issue
i need to get seatstay to dropout brazed
headset/bb cups chrome gone so thinking satin black
i plan on using the damaged bracket for pattern
and paint over my vice and dremel "skills"

Okay. NOW I see what you were worried about.
Even a Maniac knows better than to ride something with that kind of repair on the fork.
I would replace or arc weld the bracket. Brazing won't cut it in that type of stress.

burnt orange stripe might be used to cover up bad prep
trimmed rack w hacksaw..need to weld in bar stock for tank

Nice job on the paint... Looks good from here... Yeah, a burnt orange pinstripe between the black and white would really set it off nicely.
Now for that fork bracket... I agree and wouldn't ride on it with that brazed repair done there, but it might be easy enough to use some 1/8" x 1" or even better, 3/16 or 1/4" thick plate steel and cut out a new bracket end that you could weld onto the original and problem solved.

im going to use it to make another one
i switched projects .. stepnuts from 54 springer helped put together my 49 westfield
assemble this yeah if i had hair heh plenty of swearing.. darts are a pain
