I run a jack shaft and i was after more torque and i did not want to be like the guys that just remove the end cap/drill holes to gain more torque at the expense of noise because noise+streets=cops and cops=attention=strict new laws. I tried to make a write up and do pics. But way to lazy so I made a video that explains this near free mod.

If the link does not work it’s on YouTube and my name is backwardsrun.

It's almost the same as a compression release. VERY creative. Opening the exhaust like that would probably help with starting in colder temps as well.

Careful that you dont lean your motor out to much running wide open with the cap open. Usually big air flow changes thru a 2 stroke require different jetting. I like the idea though.

Good idea but not really new. The old guys here will remember them from long ago. Maybe back as far as the 50s > http://www.jcwhitney.com/exhaust-cut-out-with-cable/p2031844.jcwx?filterid=u0j5

The problem was they'd get stuck if you didn't use them every day and keep them lubricated with something that could take the heat. You'll also want to watch your spark plug color to tell you if you're running too lean.

At wot it runs better closed but I will watch the spark plug to make sure a lean coundition is not presant. Wow that cut out cost gave me sticker shock havent had that sinces i went new car shopping, but I knew it must have been done some where befor. ANd it does make it easier to start but i live in az so a "cold" start is rare for me. thanks for the info = )

Ok, I must be missing something. The video makes it look like your bike is left side pedal drive and right side engine drive. Did you invert the video somehow?
