Jackshaft or fixed gear?

Hey everybody, Im new to this and have alot of questions, but my biggest one is whether or not to use a jackshaft. 1st how long will the standard bike chain hold up? and 2nd on alot of videos it sounds like the rpm's are constantly oscillating giving a weird exhaust note. Any ways I wanna go 30 mph, and I wanna go up hills. Am I better off with a jackshaft, or spending the same amount of $$$ on performance parts. Btw its going on a 26 beach cruiser

Im using a 52CC 2-stroke scooter engine with a jackshaft. I hit 43mph with no peddles at all. So Id recommend either a 4-stroker or a 2-stroke scooter motor. Not the inframe bike motor that clamp on, but the other type that use the mount plate.

You throw it on with the output on the right-hand side, keep the scooter reducer tranny on it, and install this jack-shaft between the engine and the rear wheel.

That is one of two 3-speed hubs available that comes with a pre-installed output sprocket. It is used as a mid-drive tricycle transmission, and is seriously ready for service! The package includes shifter and all. Ive bought two, and built two scooters with it.

Notice how the simple pair of nuts will control the chain tension under the swinging arms holding the hub? Simplicity at its finest :D
