I have a habit of over volting electric motors. I have never burned one up with a friction drive. However I did burn two up with direct chain drive so just a word be careful with chain drive and over voltage.

I never burned a 20amp wall switch at 24volts with no controller, but I have burned several at 36v so if you are going to run it that way be sure to run around 24v and built a suicide cut off into the system. Mine suicide kill switch is just a wire bridge I can pull easily to open the circuit.

I have used 40amp relays successfully with 24v systems but I have not tried it with 36 so be careful they might melt the contacts together so put in the suicide cutoff.

information for what it is worth...If you are foolish enough to want to keep your bike as simple as possible...
