Hey Everybody!

I reside in Nothern California, approximately 50 miles east of San Francisco.

I have been monitoring this forum for a few months and finally jumped in with both feet and built my first motorized bike. I will post in the motorized cruisers section with pictures of the build.

Living in California poses it's own set of challenges for motorized bikes. We are only able to legally run a 49cc engine, and we have speed restrictions also. All of the bikes I build will attempt to remain in legal compliance. I do not want to give the local law enforcement free money by building an out of compliance 2 stroker!

Thanks to everyone on this board for their great advice!

looking forward to seeing your build pics.
CA law says nothing about 49 cc or any engine size.

Less than 2 gross brake horsepower is the verbiage.

I don't know about Northern California and the Bay area but
cops down here really don't focus on engine size and hp.

The areas like Newport Beach and Huntington Beach want to
see your license plate, DOT helmet and drivers license with M2

Thanks for the clarification. At least for me the 49cc, 4 stroke engine, will help keep maintenance down and it should keep me off of the C.A.R.B. (California Air Resources Board) radar. From what I can tell it is dicey at best if you are running a 2 stroker and riding it on any public road in California. I believe that there will be a huge surge in these bikes on the road due to our ever increasing gas prices (I drive a Honda Accord and spent $100 on gas last week!). When this happens the powers that be will start cracking down on the 2 strokers - can you say tickets! Their idea of free revenue!

I will post pics of my build later this afternoon on the appropriate forum.

You are over thinking it, I have been through a few gas spikes already
over the last 5 years.

Cops don't enforce C.A.R.B. laws, B.A.R. does.

The 49 cc Huasheng motor is really good but they aren't CARB approved
which makes them just as illegal in CA as a 2 stroke bicycle engine.

You would have to buy a Honda GXH 50 to get a CARB approved 4 stroke engine.

im fairly sure that none of these engines are CARB approved except maybe the honda engines so 2 stroke or 4 stroke kit you arnt going to do any better in that respect (4 stroke is less noticeable) you would need to use a carb approved engine and it would only be approved till they change the standards again

Their website is incorrect.

None of the 50 cc Huasheng motors are C.A.R.B. approved.
There will be no C.A.R.B. sticker on your motor.
It will only have a EPA sticker that is probably out of date.

Please take a pic of the stickers on the engine shroud.

They also say that the 49 cc Huasheng makes 4 - 5 HP (horse power)

You can not believe a lot of what is claimed on some sellers sites.

Their product description of that kit is a mix of 4 stroke and 2 stroke????
