Hi all,

Please excuse this very basic question:

As you can see, the grip shifters are way to big for a throttle application and brake lever. I don't used the gears on the bike anyway, ever really so I'm wondering if I can set the gear and then just remove the shifter and cable down to the derailleur and it stays in that gear?

I'd love to change this over to a single speed but I'm not that far along yet- will just removing be a good solution for now?

Thanks for the help!

Does anyone know If the cassette will stay in the same gear once the cable is removed?
If I can simply remove it and keep it in the gear I select I'd rather so that than to purchase another shifter...

I would do what Johnny suggest and add a thumb shifter. But I would not remove the shifter for the rear cassette. If anything, pick a good gear and remove the other shifter. I think after a while you will want to shift the rear cassette and it gives you a better gear selection for pedaling.
