There are a lot of good posts on that topic.
Check to be sure it is running true.
Might try a couple or 3 washers between sprocket and rag joint.
Is it a reversable sprocket ? If dished turn it around.
Thought any of a after market unit instead of rag joint.
Good luck

If you have any experience with truing wheels?, you can 'dish' the whole wheel a little to the other side. Many times when you bolt the new sprocket onto the spokes, the rag joints pull all the spokes on that side & also pull the whole wheel that way. :(

the short answer, is "no."

every bike i've built, the chain rubs the sidewall. some do it a lot, some just barely.

the chain jumps around like crazy all the time, so it really comes down to how much it rubs.

frame spacing, tire width, sprocket mounting, etc can all affect it.

you can dish the wheel like Venice said, add spacers to your axle, even alter the spacing of the frame itself.

if all it's doing is making your tire dirty, don't worry about it. if it's trying to saw a hole in it, then you need to do something.
