Chain Drive Start?

can you start a chain drive bike by lifting your rear wheel up and givin the pedal a little kick??

(Bit of a silly like question but i dont really know)

In theory you can but you need a really stable platform. How well it would work I don't know sometimes i had to pedal mine half a block. I'm not sure I could do that much standing beside the bike.

simple answer - yep. This is how I start my bike. Just lift the back via the seat, and kick the pedals. usually just takes a few kicks.

Just make sure the bike is in it's lowest gear.
