Chain keeps breaking

:-||cvlt1.cs.why does my chain keep breaking. road for bout 1 month. no problem. now broke twice in 2 days. any ideas r welcome

What kind of chain are you referring to? Tell us what kind of engine kit you have. How did you route the chain? Did you put the master link facing the wrong direction? Meaning if the master link could catch into something with the open end of the removable link facing the wrong way it will inevitably fall off!

The 410 chain that comes standard in the kits is notoriously prone to stretching if you have and front to back run out in your sprocket. Check to make sure there is no runout front to back or wobble in the sprocket and that you are not running the tensioner too tight. Most of the time when a chain breaks it will continue to break and it is to get a new one. When you do buy the 415 HD chain it is heavier and much more forgiving and less prone to stretch.

How's your rear-sprocket to engine alignment? If its not 'close-to-straight' that would cause undo wear. Did your kit come with the 415-roller chain? Is your idler pully 'pulling' to keep it on the rear sprocket?
